Our Mission
Community-Led & Trauma-Informed
At Growing Hearts and Minds CIC, everything we do is rooted in supporting children and families within our community, particularly those experiencing emotional and behavioural challenges.
We provide play therapy to help children safely express their feelings, make sense of their experiences, and develop the skills they need to regulate their emotions and build confidence. Through this support, children are better able to engage positively at home, in school, and within their wider communities.
We believe that real, lasting change happens when families are supported alongside the child. That’s why we work closely with parents, carers, and caregivers — offering guidance, insight, and practical strategies to help them better understand their child’s emotional world and strengthen relationships within the family.
Our work is especially focused on children who may face barriers to accessing support, including those affected by trauma, anxiety, neurodiversity, or behavioural difficulties. By supporting both the child and those around them, we aim to create long-term healing, resilience, and more positive outcomes for the whole family.
As a Community Interest Company, any surplus we generate is reinvested directly back into our services — helping us expand our reach, improve accessibility, and continue providing meaningful, therapeutic support to the children and families.

Trauma and Attachment-Informed Practice
We offer safe, creative therapeutic spaces where children can express themselves, process difficult experiences, and develop emotional regulation. Our work supports children affected by trauma, anxiety, loss, and behavioural challenges.
We work with both children and their parents or carers, recognising that lasting change happens through relationships. Sessions may include joint work, parent support, and guidance tailored to each family’s needs.
We offer practical strategies, emotional support, and insight to help parents, special guardians, adoptive and foster carers better understand and respond to their child’s needs with confidence.
We work alongside schools and other professionals to provide guidance, consultation, and joined-up support — helping to create consistency and understanding across the child’s world.
All of our work is grounded in an understanding of trauma, attachment, and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), ensuring children and families feel safe, understood, and supported.
Kind Words
"Our experience was truly transformative. The gentle, trauma-informed approach provided our child with a safe path to express their emotions and find their voice again through the healing language of play."
